Adding customization fields to your product template is a great way to differentiate your offerings in the market. It allows customers to tailor products to their specific needs and preferences, fostering a stronger connection to your brand and encouraging repeat business.
Choose from File uploads and Single and multiline text, radio buttons, dropdowns and checkboxes.
How to set up customization fields on specific products
You may want to add customizations only to selected products. To do this you need to create a new template that shows the customization options and assign it to your chosen products.

Create a new template
a. In your Theme customizer go to the Template dropdown at the top of the screen, go to Products and select Create template
b. Name your template something identifiable and choose a template you want to start from (This is set to your default product template as standard) -
Add your customization options
Tip: You can preview the changes on a specific product by changing the Preview product in the top left of the editor
On the editor menu go to Product > Add block and select which Customise options you want to add.
Edit the settings to your preference and save.

Assign the template to your chosen products
a. For multiple products
If you have multiple products using the same template you can use the Bulk edit option:
- Go to Admin > Product
- Select the products you want to assign the customizations to
- Click Bulk edit in the top right
- Open the Columns dropdown and enable Template
- Assign your new template to the products
- Save
b. For a specific product
- Go to Admin > Product
- Locate your product
- Scroll down and find the Theme template section on the right hand side
- Select your new template
- Save
How it works
- Once a customer adds their content to a Customize field and adds that product to the cart their customizations will also be carried through to the cart and checkout pages. This helps your customer feel reassured that the personalization has been added to the product.
- Once the order has been placed this information is added to the order details page in the admin for you to action as requested.
