Sections are the building blocks of your homepage. Within each section, you can easily add, reorder, and remove blocks of content such as products, slideshows, videos, or collections.

How Do I Edit Sections?

Sections are easy to add, move, hide, and remove - if you wish to undo or redo the changes that you make within your sections, use the arrows at the top of the page.

Section FAQs

Which video formats can I upload to a Video or Video with Text Overlay section?

For the video source, these sections only work with URLs from YouTube, Vimeo, and .mp4 - read Shopify's help pages on Uploading and managing files.

Can I unmute my Video with Text Overlay section?

No, as this type of section is muted by default - if videos with sound are preferred, please use the standard Video section instead.

Why isn't the overlay appearing on my Features section?

The overlay will be added automatically once text or buttons have been applied to the image - a colored overlay will not appear if no buttons or text have been added over the image.

Why isn't my button appearing on the section?

Your button will not be visible until you enter both text into the Button label field and add a link under Button link - the button will not appear on your section until both these fields have been used.

How do I add a menu to my header, footer, or navigation list?

In your header, the Main menu is the main navigation option for your product collections and is essential for all storefronts. You also have the option to add menus to your footer and navigation menu by selecting them within the section editor.

In order to add a menu to your theme, this menu first needs to exist within your Shopify admin settings:

  1. Within your Shopify admin, go to Sales Channels > Online Store.
  2. Go to Navigation.
  3. Select Add menu.

How do I enable the currency selector on my header or footer?

In order for your currency selector to function, you must first add markets for the different countries and regions to your store for the currencies you want to accept:

  1. Set up Markets within Shopify admin.
  2. Turn on Use local currencies.
  3. Add rounding rules and international pricing.
  4. Enable the Country/region selector.

See our How to Set Up Multiple Currencies guide for detailed instructions.

How do I enable the language selector on my header or footer?

If you wish to allow customers to view the store in different languages, select the Language selector checkbox in the header and/or footer.

  2. Select Store languages.

You will be required to download one of the many translation apps from the Shopify app store.

How can I remove the 'Powered by Shopify' credit from the footer?

By default, your footer will feature a label saying 'Powered by Shopify' in the bottom left-hand corner. You can remove this label through your theme action settings:

  1. Within your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
  2. On the drop-down menu for your theme, go to Actions > Edit languages.
  3. In the search bar, enter 'Powered by Shopify'.

Under Content, you can add a Social media content block to link your networks through their corresponding icons. In order for these to be displayed in your announcement bar or footer, your social settings must be set up within your Theme settings:

  1. Within your theme editor, scroll down the left-hand menu to select Theme settings.
  2. Click Social media.
  3. Enter your social media URLs into the entry fields.
