Your store's templates are preset sections that are designed to give your store it's look and feel.
You can see which templates are available in the theme by going to the dropdown option at the top of your theme editor (Online store > Themes > Customise).
When you edit a template it edits the look of any page that is assigned to that template. For example if you add a new section to your 'default product' template it will add that section to all your products that are assigned to 'default product'.
You can choose which template you would like to assign your content to by going to the product/page/blog etc, in the admin that you want to assign, and on the sidebar find the Online store > Theme template and selecting which template you would like to use for that content.
Note: When assigning your templates you will only be able to see available templates of your live theme
In Influence we have provided some additional template to get you set up as quickly as possible. These can be applied to:
- Product
- Collection
- Blog
- Blog posts
- Pages
You can learn more about templates here.
On this page we have listed which templates our theme includes.
Editing your templates
To edit all the products/pages/collections/blog posts/blogs that use your template
If you want to edit all the products/collections/pages/blog posts/blogs that use the template you are viewing simply:
- Go to the editor Online store > Influence > Customise
- Navigate to the template you want to edit using the dropdown at the top of your editor (e.g. Products > Coming soon). You can also see here how many of your products/pages/collections use this template.
- Make any changes you wish to see and save
This will appear across all products that are assigned to that template.
To edit a single piece or group of content
For if you want to make a change for a single product/page/collection/blog post/blog but leave the rest unchanged.
In this example we're going to set up a product page that will apply to all the products within a collection that are going to have an automatic discount applied that you want to promote.
- Go to the editor Online store > Influence > Customise
- Navigate to the template type you want to edit for example if you're changing a product page go to product in the dropdown at the top of your editor and select Create template
- Choose a name for your new template. We recommend adding an indicator so you know what is a custom template and which came with the theme. We use 'cust-' for example 'cust-dress-discount'.
Then choose which existing template you want to start from. This is a great way to save time setting up if you're wanting to use a template for most of your content but make sight alterations for a specific piece or group of content like our example. - Make your desired changes to the new template and save
- Once you have made these changes to your template we then want to assign it to your product.
Ensure the theme with the new template is live and select your new template from the dropdown options under Theme template. - Preview this product on your store and you should now see your change has applied to the products you have assigned the template to but not to the rest of your products
