How to Set Up Collection Filters & Links

Note: The information below only applies to Online Store 2.0-compatible Envy theme versions - if you are currently working with a vintage theme version, Version 17.3.7 and earlier, your theme will offer very different options as part of the Online Store 1.0 theme architecture.

As part of the new Online Store 2.0 theme architecture, the Collection Page template can natively host a number of Filters, to allow your customers to easily browse through any given Collection Page template with the filter applied to sort the Shopify Products as preferred.

Step 1: Enabling Filters in Shopify Admin

To enable Filters, if preferred:

  1. Go to Shopify admin.
  2. Go to Online Store > Navigation.
  3. Scroll down to Collection and search filters.
  4. Click Add filters.

Within this Add filters menu, please select one or more filter options from the list of available filters to enable these for use within your theme. The native options available are:

  • Availability
  • Price
  • Product type
  • Vendor

Once happy with your final selection, select Done to save your product options. Then use the Save option to finalize the changes and update the filters on the Collection Page template.

Step 2: Customize Your Filters (optional)

You can also add a number of Custom filters, within the same Add filters menu from Step 1, using your Product options or with metafields.

  1. Shopify admin.
  2. Online store > Themes > Customize.
  3. Select Collection pages from the page selector drop-down, and select the default template when prompted.
