How to set up a Highlight list with metafields

The Highlights block can be added to your product page as well as most of our sections that include product cards, like featured collections, cross sells and many more. By using metafields you can add dynamic information that is relevant to each of your products.

You can follow our handy guide to set up this block.

Step 1: Define a Highlights metafield

You can create a dynamic Highlights block by adding metafields to your products.

1. Within your Shopify admin, go to Settings.
2. Go to Metafields.
3. Select Products and click Add definition.

1. Provide a namespace of highlights.
2. Provide a key of 'list'
3. From the content type select Single line text and List of values.
4. Save your changes

Step 2: Assign metafields to your products

You can now assign your metafields to your products.

1. Within your Shopify settings, go to Products.
2. Select the relevant product.
3. Scroll down to the metafield option and select the metafield you defined above.
   
   
4. From here, you can select add the highlights and arrange the order in which you want them to display for this product.
5. Save your changes

Step 3: Set up Highlights on your store

Next, you can set up the Highlights block on your product cards and Product forms.

1. Within the theme editor, navigate to the product card you want to add the block to or tp the Product form on the product page.
2. Add a Highlights block.
   
3. If you're previewing a product that you have added highlights to in the admin then you should now see them appear
4. Save your changes
